GOLD RUSH! 15 CATZ-trained athletes win gold medals in Beijing.

What do Misty May-Treanor, Angela Hucles and Kate Markgraf of US Soccer, and the USA Men’s Volleyball Team have in common? They are all gold medalists. Their stories were some of the most compelling of the Beijing Olympics. And, they all turned to CATZ to prepare them for the Olympics.

Misty May-Treanor made history in the Beijing Olympics. May-Treanor and partner Kerri Walsh became the first beach volleyball team to win consecutive gold medals. With a two set victory over China, May-Treanor and Walsh won their 108th consecutive match and their second Olympic gold medal. May-Treanor trains with CATZ at our Anaheim, CA facility.

Angela Hucles and Kate Markgraf played key roles in the US Soccer team’s improbable run to a gold medal. Hucles, stepping in for injured star Abby Wambach, led Team USA in scoring for the Olympic tournament. Markgraf anchored the US defense and had several key plays in the gold medal game against Brazil, when the US held the explosive and heavily-favored Brazilians scoreless over 120 minutes of play. Both Markgraf and Hucles train with CATZ at our Needham, MA facility.

The USA Men’s Volleyball team won the gold medal for the first time in 20 years. The team went through the Olympic tournament undefeated and Coach Hugh McCutcheon perserverved through personal tragedy. All 12 members of USA team train with CATZ at our Anaheim, CA facility.

In all, CATZ athletes came home with 15 gold medals and one silver. Congrats to all on a tremendous accomplishment. Misty May-Treanor summed it up best, “If you want to train at the highest level, CATZ is the place to be. It makes the games easy.”
