and
1 Mile Events
February 11, 2009
It has been quite a first indoor track season for Erin Neville, a black shirt-level CATZ athlete in Commack. The stand-out Olympic Development Program (ODP) and NY State Team soccer player joined Commack’s Indoor Varsity Track team this year at the suggestion of the Coach, and soon become a valuable member of the team in the long distance events. In her very first season ever running track, Erin has been learning the ins-and-outs of the sport from her Coach and teammates throughout the course of the season. As with her soccer skills, she has proven to be a quick study and now ranks # 1 in New York State for 7th Grade Girls in the 1500m and 1 Mile Runs (see rankings below). Erin has now earned her first Varity Letter, and was recently voted as the “2009 Rookie of the Year” by her coaches on Commack’s Varsity Indoor Track team. She is also considering an entrance into the National Scholastic Indoor Championships that are taking place on March 14 -16 at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York City.
This spring Erin will be playing for the Massapequa Stars U13 Girls Club Soccer Team, and is considering “a run” at the Commack Varsity Outdoor Track team as well. Congratulations Erin! Everyone at CATZ in Commack is very proud of your accomplishments. Keep up the terrific work in your soccer and track endeavors
